Canadian David Lemieux makes comeback in a non-title bout against Mexican Jaudiel Zepeda – Boxing News
David Lemieux, the former WBC International middleweight champion, will make a comeback after five months and will collide with Mexico’s Jaudiel Zepeda, in an eight-round non-title bout which will be held on Friday June 8, 2012.
The duo will meet on the fight card organised and promoted by Yvon Michel of GYM Promotions. The night will be headlined by the WBO NABO light heavyweight title bout between Eleider Alvarez and Shawn Hawk in which the former will defend his title for the
second time.
The showdown will also witness Oscar Rivas take on Sylvera Louis in an eight-round non-title bout while constituting the co-headline event. David, 23, recently gave a detailed interview and discussed not only about his upcoming bout with Zepeda but also
his hand injury and last inch loss to Joachim Alcine.
The Canadian proud has been in a total 27 bouts and boasts 25 wins. The young Montreal proud possesses a clear upper hand over his Friday night opponent but still is unwilling to underestimate Zepeda’s abilities and talent.
During the interview, David remarked that he is excited to get back in the ring especially after undergoing proper medical treatment in order to recuperate from the hand injury. The orthodox brawler stated, “I feel great! I’ve been waiting for a long time
to get back in the ring since my injury on my hand. I’m ready to fight, to get back in the ring. I’ve been training for a while to get back. I’m going to get back on the winning streak.”
While sharing his thoughts about his last loss to Alcine, David did not put forth any kind of complain rather commented that he has learned a lot from Alcine adding that he is a good and quality brawler.
When asked as to what he thinks about Jaudiel, David commented, “The guy is good, I’ve seen him fight. He’s good on his feet, and he’s a very solid puncher, so I’m expecting to do some rounds you know? I’m ready to work. I’m well prepared, I’m sure he’s
going to be well prepared too, so it’s going to be a good fight.”
Jaudiel, 29, also known as ‘Negro’, has been in a total 18 bouts and boasts 12 wins. The Mexican proud has nailed nine of his opponents by knockout as compared to David’s huge 24 knockout wins.
The bout will be a tough one and the odds are certainly in favour of David who has undergone substantial training and is completely fit as far as the hand injury is concerned. Further, he has collided with much stronger and high-profiled pugilists as compared
to Jaudiel.
