Canadian G1 Licence in New Zealand??

Question

What are the rules here? Ive had my G1 for 6 years now, (Ive re-done the written test and it doesnt expire until 2012 now)...Am I able to drive in New Zealand as long as someone is with me? Is it the same rule as here in Canada??
