Eric Pang, a talented player from Netherlands, maintained his spectacular performance and stormed into Men’s Singles semi-final without facing any trouble at 2013 Ottawa Canadian International Challenge, which is in progress in Ottawa.
In the quarter-final fight on Thursday, June 27, the in-form Eric displayed his staggering skills and outplayed Canada’s Andrew Harrison in a convincing way by consuming just 27 minutes on court.
Eric, who is the top seed in Men’s Singles category in this championship, played with impressive confidence in the quarter-final battle. He maintained his rhythm and easily finished up the match with a superb 21-15 and 21-14 score on the board.
Meanwhile, the un-seeded Andrew failed to continue his astonishing performance in this tournament. He could not match the level of his top seeded challenger at any stage in the quarter-final contest and lost it without even getting close.
In the first few rallies of opening set, both shuttlers played good badminton as they moved fast on court and took the bird in a timely fashion. However, the higher ranked Eric took over the control by playing aggressively and set up a reasonable lead at
the initial stage.
Eric continued his smooth run on court as he did not face any trouble in placing his shots in right areas. With his incredible aggression, the in-form Dutch shuttler took a wonderful lead until the break.
In the concluding half, Eric stayed consistent in his positive and dominating play. He remained in complete control of the game and won it with a superb 21-15 score on the board.
In the following set, Eric again played with the same incredible speed and showed urgency in setting up a wonderful lead. He was quite comfortable in creating gaps and remained miles ahead on the board until the break.
After the interval, Eric continued showing up his elite skills in the arena. He remained on a different level all the way and finished off the second set with a one-sided margin of 21-14.
In the semi-final clash, Eric will be up against Denmark’s Christian Lind Thomsen who outplayed Canada’s Stefan Wojcikiewicz in the other quarter-final clash.
