Canadian Lorie Kane fails to make the cut at Vancouver
Canadian Lorie Kane, who was happy with her performance in the first round of CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012, could not maintain momentum in the second round and ended up missing the cut.
Despite getting off to a decent start at a tournament staged on her home soil, Kane failed to impress the Canadian spectators at the Vancouver Golf Club. However, she was happy with her overall performance
as the roster was loaded with plenty of top-ranked LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) stars such as current world number one Yani Tseng, Stacy Lewis and Suzann Pettersen.
Other prominent contenders include defending champion Brittany Lincicome, Natalie Gulbis, Brittany Lang, Vicky Hurst, Azahara Munoz, Jessica Korda, Taylor Leon, Mika Miyazato, Catriona Matthew, Angela Stanford,
Shanshan Feng, Inbee Park, Na Yeon Choi, Chella Choi, Lydia Ko, Amy Yang and Karrie Webb.
Kane kicked off the second round with confidence but could not keep her cool and shot a 76 to miss the cut. Her overall score was 148.
Speaking to the media at the end of the first round, the Canadian star said that she was happy after making a good start but faltered in the second round. Kane said that she was aware of the crowd support but
could not fully capitalise on it due to a couple of errors.
When asked what her first-round strategy was, Kane said that getting off to a solid start always helps, but if things go wrong, it becomes pretty difficult to remain in contention.
“I think the first round you always want to get out and get a good start.  Not shoot yourself in the foot, so to speak.  Just try to get into the tournament.  I am going to sleep better being at even par than
I would have been had I been bogey up,” Kane shared.
She went on to say that her plan was to avoid bogeys and stick to birdies. “The goal is to make birdie, but it's also to limit mistakes. I thought I had a birdie on 17, like I said, and to birdie 18, one of
the tougher holes on the course,” she said after finishing her first round.
