Question:

Canadian Marrying US Citizen?

by  |  earlier

I'm a Canadian citizen, and like to marry a girl I've known for 8 years, and immigrate to the USA - she is American. My problem is that I have a "threatening death" charge from about 7 years ago. I am in the midst of applying for a pardon, and gaining a US waiver to enter the country as a visitor.

What are my chances for me legitimately becoming a landed immigrant? What barriers do I face? What advice can anyone give me?

Thanks

  1. an american marrying a canadian? that's a myth

  2. Phone customs and ask if you can visit. I don't think it looks too good for you.

  3. Why in the world would you want to move to a country that is failing?

Seriously, you have no idea the hardships coming on this country. Stay in Canada, American will eventually move up there.

  4. all I can say is good luck!! US immigration is tough! they don't like "criminals". just get her to live in Canada! it's better anyway!

  5. I can intelligently answer your question---- sorry....

But I would recommend getting some good health insurance; in our country, we'll dump your *** on the street if you can't pay a hospital bill.

  6. It's easier to get into this country than any other, but I don't know why you would want to.  The way things are going and with the impending health care like you have there, I'm looking to get out of here.

  7. You have a criminal record.  You are not coming to the US.  A pardon won't help.  The conviction is still on your record.  See if your gf wants to move to Canada.
