Canadian Martin Reader satisfied with gold medal win – Volleyball news
The Canadian beach volleyball duo of Martin Reader and Chaim Schalk recently enjoyed the gold medal victory at the NORCECA Central Zone Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Boca Chica.
The thrilling beach volleyball action continued from April 16-21, while the aspiring teams fought for berths in the 2012 London Olympic Games. Success came to Reader/Chaim as they pushed everyone behind the line. The victory in Central Zonal Tournament promoted
the successful Canadian duo in the Continental Cup Final Olympic qualifying tournament next year.
Martin expressed great amount of joy for making it to the top position. He called it a great experience, while contesting their abilities with some of the best teams of the region. The Canadian side had the daunting task to overcome the power of Cuban duo
in the five-set final showdown on Wednesday.
They demonstrated a spectacular performance and carved their names in the winners’ corner. The team will now participate in the Continental Cup Final Olympic Qualifying Tournament, which will be held in the next month.
Talking of success at the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tournament, Reader stated, “We worked towards a goal as an entire Canadian team. The format of two teams facing off was so much fun and it brought our teams closer together as we assisted in achieving victory.
In the finals, Chaim and I played the best ball we ever have in our partnership. We were able to defeat both Cuban teams. The fifth set was such a high pressure match but we had taken down both teams that day so we were feeling very strong and confident. We
handled the pressure very well and it was an incredible set.”
The Canadian pair had an excellent plan for the Olympic Qualifier in Boca Chica. They stuck to the plan and masterly executed it. They were equipped with all necessary tools of the game and clinched success.
They put up a dedicated effort and successfully dismantled the power of Cuban opponents. Their victory will be remembered in the history of Canadian Volleyball. Next up, they are scheduled to play in the NORCECA Beach Circuit at the same venue in Boca Chica.
The Canadian team is enjoying a top form and is expected to make huge buzz at the centre court.
