Canadian Masters Badminton Championships: Francis Dumais beats Eric Demeule in first round clash
Canada’s Francis Dumais found a wonderful start when he overpowered his country-mate Eric Demeule in Men’s Singles first round at the 2012 Yonex Canadian Masters Badminton Championships on Monday, May 7, in Canada.
The un-seeded Francis was impressive in his play when he put up remarkable show and remained successful in winning the battle against Eric in a thrilling three-set fight.
Francis took the first set easily but lost the second game with a tight score. However, he put in extra effort in the final battle and won the set with a close margin on the board.
On the other hand, Eric put up tremendous show of top quality badminton and matched the speed and skills of his rival but remained unlucky in the final points of deciding game and lost the contest with a dramatic score on the board.
Francis started the opening game in a dominating manner as he played with impressive control in the game and managed to take a remarkable lead until the one-minute interval.
After the break, Eric tried to catch up his opponent but failed to bridge the huge gap set by his rival who was sailing smoothly in the game and bagged it with a 21-12 margin on the board.
In the second game, both shuttlers entertained the home fans as they matched the speed of their opponents in all areas of the court and remained close in the opening half of the set.
The score progressed in the similar entertaining manner as both shuttlers played tremendous badminton and entered into the ending points.
At this crucial stage, Francis could not do well with his shots as he executed a few wrong strokes and lost the set with a 19-21 score on the board.
In the final set, both shuttlers maintained the interest of the crowd by playing at the same speed as they did not spare any single chance to earn points. Until the break, no one could establish a reasonable gap on the board.
After the break, they remained on track without giving up until the ending points when Francis showed his brilliance and took the set with a narrow margin of 21-19.
Francis remained successful in taking his opening fight with a 21-12, 19-21 and 21-19 score on the board.
