Canadian Masters Badminton Championships: Trevor Rowsell, Chris White secure semi-final spot
Men’s Doubles pair Trevor Rowsell-Chris White reserved their right to be in the semi-final of Yonex Canadian Masters Badminton Championships after beating compatriot duo Daniel Couture-Sylvain Jutras on May 9, 2012.
This epic battle was resolved in 40 minutes with tight figures of 26-24, 22-24 and 21-11.
The victorious duo will be up against top seed couple Ian Assing-Garth D Abreu in semi-final round of the event.
Earlier in quarter-final match, both competitors were at their elegant best as they pushed each other all the way to three gruelling sets and made this a memorable contest.
There was lot of drama in this tussle as the winning team of Trevor Rowsell-Chris White first established their hold then lost balance and tumbled as they regained their status in the end.
The first game set the overall mood of the match as both teams kept the chase on course until last shot was played. They matched each other in all areas of game and earned great deal of admiration for their fighting spirit.
Both contenders remained close until game point situation but Rowsell-White swept the board with a tight yet decisive margin of 26-24.
Next game also turned neck-to-neck tussle as none of them could gain a comfortable lead throughout the second set.
The scratch pair of Daniel Couture-Sylvain Jutras bagged few quick points in the start but they could not go with same flow and their opponents caught them soon.
However they managed to have a slight edge with some uninterrupted rallies before the mid-game break.
After interval, the opposing team of Rowsell-White picked up the pace and got into commanding position but their challengers struck hard when the situation was at its most dire and equalled the score.
There were four times when both competitors reached at game point situation but could not wrap the show.
This race ended when Daniel-Sylvain clinched final two points to register concluding total of 24-22.
The decider proved a one-sided affair as Rowsell and White were in control for a sizeable chunk of the game. They dazzled their opponents with a lustrous performance and stole the limelight by entering significant figure of 21-11.
