Canadian Masters: Tosh Uyeda ousts Jean Francois Bergeron in Men’s Singles quarter-final
Canada’s Tosh Uyeda entertained his home fans by playing remarkable badminton in the Men’s Singles quarter-final when he ousted his compatriot Jean Francois Bergeron at 2012 Yonex Canadian Masters Badminton Championships on Tuesday, May 8, in Canada.
Tosh, who is un-seeded in the draw, put up terrific show of top quality badminton and remained successful in beating his team-mate in a completely one-sided manner.
The in-form Tosh was confident in the court as he played with impressive control and ended the match without showing any mercy to his compatriot.
On the other hand, Jean Francois failed to play attacking badminton and he also committed many mistakes and eventually lost the quarter-final contest in two games in just 35 minutes.
In the first set, Tosh started his run in a positive and calculated manner as he manipulated all loopholes of his rival and set up an early lead without wasting any time.
Jean Francois tried to play fast badminton but his rival did not spare any chance for him to dominate the pace of rallies.
Until the 60-second interval, it was Tosh who was leading the opening set with a comfortable margin on the board.
After the break, Tosh did not lose his focus and also maintained his speed in all areas. He was impressive in the execution of strokes and ended the set in a fascinating manner by a 21-13 score on the board.
In the following set, Tosh was everywhere in the court as he took the bird early while remaining smooth and took an early lead.
In the meanwhile, Jean Francois failed to play positive badminton as he could not take the bird early and also remained struggling in the court.
Tosh moved ahead on the score board until the end of the opening half of second game.
After the interval, Tosh continued punishing his rival with his powerful shots and he did not take much time in finishing up the second game with a one-sided 21-9 score on the board.
Tosh emerged as the winner in this 35-minute straight-set quarter-final clash with an inspiring margin of 21-13 and 21-9.
