Canadian National Championships: Christin Tsai brushes aside Suneeta Khare in quarter-final battle
Canada’s one of the most talented shuttlers Christin Tsai powered her way into Women’s Singles semi-final after defeating Suneeta Khare in quarter-final encounter at Yonex Canadian National Championships 2013 in Canada, on Thursday, January 31.
The second seeded Tsai, who has been playing terrific badminton throughout the championship, showed her aggression in the arena and managed to outplay her fifth seeded challenger Suneeta in just 34 minutes.
Tsai was in remarkable form as she did not spare any chance for her lower ranked challenger to fight back at any stage in the match and finished it off in straight games with a killing margin of 21-10 and 21-11.
The fifth seeded Suneeta, on the other hand, tried her level best to stop the aggression of her second seeded team-mate but failed to control the pace of rallies and eventually crashed out at the quarter-final stage.
Tsai played with outstanding control in her strokes and managed to control the driving seat from opening points of the opening set.
The unmatched variations in Tsai’s shots assisted her to maintain her superiority against her opponent in the arena.
Until the one-minute break in this quarter-final battle, the confident Tsai was leading the game with a comfortable difference.
Suneeta tried her best to show aggression but could not take charge of rallies and remained trailing in the concluding part.
Tsai did not reduce the speed of the game at any stage and easily won the first game with a lopsided 21-10 margin on the board.
Suneeta put in extra effort to play smart badminton in the first part of second set but she failed to build pressure on her challenger.
The well directed smashes and spinning net shots kept Tsai ahead of her challenger all the way until the one-minute interval in second game.
Tsai continued putting up sound show in the concluding half of second game and remained successful in clinching the game with a spectacular 21-11 margin on the score board.
In the semi-final of the event, the in-form Tsai will be up against Rachel Honderich who defeated Nadianie Ouaqouaq Bergeron in the another quarter-final contest.
