Regarding Canadian Parment Resident Card

I and my family has canadian Parmanent Card I am living in canada from last two years but my family living in India due to my children education, I would like to know that their PR card is going to cancel if they wont stay in canada or is that possible to visit to me once in while PR card is valid upto 2011 please advice me I need information - thanks

    Hello, I am also a permanent resident in Canada also.  There are certain residency obligations that one must meet in order to keep their permanent residence status in Canada.  More specifically, one must be physically present in Canada for 730 days in the 5 year period that their residence is in effect.

    There are certain exceptions to this rule.  For example, if one is employed by a Canadian company outside of Canada then they do not have to meet these guidelines.

    The link that I provided above will tell you in detail.  You will need to skip down to about section 6 to get the information that you want.

    Also, it is your responsibility to prove that you have been inside Canada the required number of days.  Yes, you can lose your resident status if you fail to meet the resident requirements.  GOOD LUCK!!
