Does a one month old baby need a photo to be taken for a Canadian passport? If so, does it matter if it's taken in Canada?

thanks :)

  1. Yes they probably will, but the border is more casual. If the baby does need one, they will probably need one sooner than you will. For example my little brother needs his photo updated in 3 years because he will change while I have to get mine retaken in 10 years because I'm an adult.

  2. If you are getting a passport for a baby  yes you need to have a passport picture taken, and it does have to follow the guidelines of the photo the same as the adults, only difference the baby passport is only $37 and good for 3 yrs and in that time you get 1 FREE replacement if you got the passport for a child 1 year and under, you just have to provide a recent passport picture. The passport picture has to be taken by a commercial photographer, they will have the passport photos taken here sign.

Children 15 yrs and under do not need a passport as of yet for travel to the US they only need proof of citizenship(birth certificate)

Alicia: Adult passports are only valid for 5 yrs in Canada, so if you wait for the 10 yrs yours will be expired!

Edit: When they take the photo the parent places their hands under the blanket they use as a background, so there fore you are holding the child but not showing your hands, it works very well actually that is what my husband did when we had our daughter's passport pic taken.
