  1. CANADA ROCKS!!!!

  2. You can have your Passport expedited by paying an additional fee

    http://www.ppt.gc.ca/cdn/service.aspx?la...

For between $10-$70 you can have your passport in 10 days, or in as little as 24 hours.  However, you have to apply in person, so I hope you live near a passport office.

  3. You can get your passport in 10 days for a fee if your renewing.

For more info go to: http://www.ppt.gc.ca/index.aspx?lang=eng

  4. It can take as little as 2 days to get a passport.  You simply need to provide a travel itinerary to the passport office, pay extra, and make sure your application is filled out correctly.

  5. If you go to a Passport Canada Office in your area, you can pay an extra $30 on top of the 87$ adult to get it express in 2 to 9 days or an extra $70 to get it in 24 hours.

However for both of those you will need to bring proof of travel (like a plane ticket or an itnierary).

Check out www.pptc.gc.ca or call 1-800-567-6868

  6. If you're driving to Buffalo, all you need to cross the border is your birth certificate and photo ID. (Assuming you're Canadian born).  Same thing getting back to Canada.  You don't have a problem.  Starting in June 2009, you will have to have a passport to enter the States via any mode of travel.

  7. With the sole exception of knh959 all of the other answerers have got it all wrong.....since you are driving into the US a passport is not required.

  8. A couple of people have got it right that as you are crossing the Canadian/American border by LAND (and not flying from your starting point in Canada to Buffalo), your only required documentation is government issued photo-ID (driver's license) and original birth certificate.

The passport stipulation for LAND crossing from country to country (as you are doing here) is not going into effect until at least June, 2009.  So you shouldn't have a problem.

I'm Canadian as well.  In April, I drove through the Windsor/Detroit tunnel, and caught a flight to Tampa at Detroit Metro Airport.  I needed to show only my government photo ID and driver's license to the customs guard at the tunnel border.  That's all that's required.
