  1. You're starting a bit late but that doesn't mean you can't go far.  Most of the professionals on the Canadian team play their Rugby in Europe and then come back to Canada for Internationals.  You can definately make a good living but you need to be right at the top level.  There is no real infrastructure to be a professional rugby player in Canada right now, but they are consistantly (albeit slowly) growing.

The best advice I ever got and have ever given (for new guys) is to just do the basics over and over until they become second nature.  So many new guys go out there trying to do the big plays etc but you need to have every single basic skill down or you just wont go anywhere.

Anyways, give it your all for your school (if you're at school), your coach should be able to connect you with a local club team and get out there ASAP.  You'll learn so much more at club than school because all the players can help you rather than just the coach.  Once you're at club, play your backside off and you will have a chance for the provincial (age group and then senior) teams and then who knows!  Funny thing in Canada... you're more likely to make the national team before getting a big professional contract somewhere.
