It would depend on the laws of India and how long you are allowed to stay. You would need to get a tourist visa in order to visit India and can find more information on that here:

Keep in mind that if you are out of Canada longer than 179 days per year you can lose your medicare coverage and will have to re-apply with a waiting period of 3 months, or whatever waiting period your province has designated.
