After living in Canada for a long time, going for a 6 week visit to India,What amount of gifts can be taken duty free and what amount of personal jewellery is allowed?

Its around $25000 to $30000 worth of stuff.

But for further details, I suggest you contact a travel agency (or the airport) to make sure.  

And I'm sure that you can carry up to $10000 cash (per person) with you without being questioned.

you can bring jewellery to considerable amount by wearing on your body. gifts should not be more than Rs 25,000.
