Canadian coach Kieran Crowley delighted with brilliant output against United States - Rugby News
The head coach of Canada, Kieran Crowley, is delighted with his team’s excellent show against United States. Canada crushed the United States by 28-22 in Toronto, at BMO Field on August 6 after a nail biting contest. The hosts were down by 10-15 at half-time
but produced a brilliant performance to disrupt the United States in a Rugby World Cup warm-up match. Talking to reporters on August 7, the Canadian head coach appreciated his side and said that he was delighted with his team’s performance.
Phil Mackenzie and Aaron Carpenter helped their side at a very crucial time during the second-half and scored one try for Canada. The United States Eagles played really well in the first-half but looked miserable in the second part of the match. They provided
a number of easy chances to the Canadians who committed no mistake to avail the opportunities.
Canada had a rusty game during the first-half which resulted in a lead for Eagles. Todd Clever, the Eagles skipper, played exceptionally well in the match and helped his side with two well executed tries in the match. Taku Ngwenya also elevated his side
with a well controlled try but collectively United States proved underdogs for Canada.
Talking to media Canadian coach said that he was expecting even better efforts by his side. However victory is delighting for him. He further said that, “There were a lot of mistakes in the first-half. We kept giving the ball back to the U.S. and we had
to make a heck of a lot of tackles. For the boys to come back the way they did in the second half, I'm pretty pleased with them.”
The coach also said that, “The performance wasn't how we would have liked it but any Test match is a challenge and a real battle and I was very pleased with how our guys stuck to it in the second half.”
The victory has pumped up the Canadian side for the up coming Rugby World Cup 2011, starting just weeks after in New Zealand.
