Hi, My name is Devon and I am 19 years old. I was born with what they call ' Chronic Intestinal psuedo abstruction ' It is a complicated disease effecting my intestines. As a result, I have been given an Eliostomy wich I have had and lived with since i was 2 years old.

This ostomy has never stopped me from doing anything, including skydyving, cliff dyving, rock climbing, football, soccer, Ken-do sparring, karate, atving, travelling accross the world, and getting an oevr 80% average in highschool.

I have put alot of thought into this and would really like to join the Reserves either full time or part time, I have not decided yet. I find most things I can do, now that I'm out of highschool, don't challenge me in all aspects. I can get physically challenging jobs which dont challenge my mental ability, or team work ability.

Or I get intellectual jobs which dont challenge my physical abilities.

I want a job that is exciting, challenging and rewarding, just like the forces.

I've never let this ostomy stop me from doing anything else in my life, and I wanted to know if it would stop me from fighting for my country?

I've hesitated to go into the recruitment centre now for months because I was to worried I'de get turned down. Does anyone know the armies position on recruiting members with ostomies?

And just so its noted, I can pass the 'physical requirments' as far as running, pushups etc as explained by a friend of mine who just did them.
