Canadian forward Riley Hillis signs for Tri-City Americans in the Western Hockey League
Riley Hillis, an upcoming player and a prospect, has signed for Tri-City Americans in the Western Hockey League (WHL). The announcement was made by team’s general manager that the 17-year-old player has signed a WHL standard contract.
Bob Tory, the governor and general manager of the team told that Hillis is a very hard working and competitive player. According to him, he has earned the contract himself by impressing them and making them realise that he was the player that Tri-City needed as he said,

“Riley came into our camp as a relatively unknown player and earned a contract with our club based on his play”.
Tory was also very happy because of the fact that the player and his family member chose Americans ahead of other teams and joined them as a player and thought Americans are the team where he would develop, as he added,
“We are very happy that Riley and his parents have chosen the Americans and the WHL for his future hockey development.”
The 16-year-old played 44 games in the last season and scored 13 goals and nine assists for a total of 22 points. The 5-foot-11, 185 pounder player, had 54 penalty in minutes (PIM’s). During the off season and the playoffs, he played 7 games, scoring two goals and one assists for three total points.
He had also played last season for Rocky Mountain Roughriders, an under 16 team and appeared in 65 games for them, scored 6 goals and 16 assists for a total of 22 points. He had 60 penalty in minutes (PIM’s) there. The second high profile US player attended American rookie camp during the past week and played one game for Team White’s, where he got an assist to help them in a 5-2 win over Team Blue.
Hillis will be a part of Tri-City team that travels to Everett Silvertips for the off-season fixtures.
