Canadian government assures support for Volleyball Canada – Volleyball news
The government of Canada has always encouraged physical activities and sports in the country. Recently, the Canadian Government has announced that it will fully support Volleyball Canada for the two major volleyball events that are slated for May 2012. The
official statement was released by the honourable Minister of State (Sport), Bal Gosal, on Tuesday, April 17.
The Government of Canada is the single largest donor of Volleyball Canada. In past, the government has provided support to Volleyball Canada in setting up new courts and playgrounds. The continuous emotional and monetary support has enabled Volleyball Canada
to work for the development of sport in the country.
In the running season, Volleyball Canada is set to host one major national event and an international tournament in Toronto. The 2012 Canadian Open Volleyball Championships will take centre stage on May 17, where more than 700 teams from every nook and cranny
of the country will show up.
The Open Championships will feature competitions from Under-14 division to senior division. In addition, the sitting volleyball matches will also be a part of the campaign. The 2012 Canadian Open Volleyball Championships will surely be the finest display
of volleyball in Canada.
Furthermore, Canada will host the pool-play matches of 2012 FIVB World League that will be kicked off on May 18.
In this regard, the Government has promised to give the funds of $250,000 to Volleyball Canada. The money will be invested to facilitate the participating teams and cater to their needs during the two events.
The Volleyball Canada is determined to set up an excellent environment at the upcoming championships. Additionally, the government will also provide $50,000 for the sitting volleyball competition.
“I congratulate Volleyball Canada for this massive undertaking that will not only showcase the amazing talent of our Canadian volleyball teams, but also provide invaluable opportunities for competition and training experience,” said Minister of State Gosal.
“Our Government is proud to have contributed to the hosting of these two events, which further advance the high-performance sport culture of our nation and provide a welcome economic boost to the region and to Canada as a whole.”
