Compared to my 4.25 cents for gas here in ct us

It is crazy!

I am just curious i always though canada was rather expensive to live.

  1. Canada uses the metric system, so gas isn't sold by the gallon.  It is sold by the liter.  A liter is the size of a quart, just a bit smaller, so it takes 4 and a half of them to make a gallon.  Therefore, gas is $1.29 a liter, or times by 4.5 = $5.80 a gallon.  (actually in my area gas is more than $1.29 so your friend has it cheap).  Bear in mind that driving is the only option for most people because transit systems either don't exist or they suck.  And everyone drives bigger vehicles for winter driving, not the small cars you see in Europe.  So ya, it's expensive.
