  1. I quite like Vonage.

    $20 a month for 500 min to Can/US.

  2. Yes I can help you, the company I use here in the UK started business in the USA and Canada and are excellent, if you could email me I can send you a web site address with instructions on how to access the Canada section, the web site is a UK one. I know the company also has a voip service offering free calling between Canada and the USA.

  3. Just use YAK Canada - 1010-YAK (1010-925).

Dial 1010-925, then your LD number 1-x*x-x*x-xxxx

The calls are billed directly through your local phone company bill, automatically.  Nothing to sign-up for, no contracts, no switching carriers.  No hidden fees or charges. No equipment to buy.... nada...

    It's just 5 cents/min anywhere in USA/Canada.

Yak is a "Dial-Around" Long Distance service.

They have arrangements with local carriers to bill your calls directly through your phone company bill.

Before I started using VoIP for all my phone calling I used Yak Canada for all my LD calls to USA from Canada.  It worked great for me.  I live in Alberta, Canada.

There is no easier way to call LD than Yak dial-around.

However, if you just want to swtich LD carriers, YAK Canada also provides dedicated LD service too:
