  1. No, you'll need to talk to a paralegal specializing in immigration procedures. Canadians get some privileges as NAFTA members, so you may be able to work pretty easily, but the green card will require a lot of work.

  2. yea as soon as u get married you are eligible 2 work u can start working if u can find a job right after u go and get the green card they will take a wile tho about 2-3 weeks

  3. No you cannot start working right away.  The green card process is way long....tonnes of waiting!  You will be able to work tho while you're here as long as you file for EAD I think it's I-765.  This will allow you to work while you're waiting for your green card.  Now after you file all the appropriate paperwork (close to 8 different applications) you will probably have to wait about 7-12 months for your immigration interview with your husband/wife (the american citizen) for a temporary green card.  After the interview if you are approved you have to wait another 2 years to have apply to remove the temporary conditions!  Lots of money, lots of waiting! Good luck!

  4. My wife is from africa, we were married in feb 2006. She received her green card around December 2006. But, she did not receive her social security card until April 2007. She started working January 2007, but, after about a month her employer was getting concerned about her social security card. Fortunately, her social came in around the time they started getting nervous. We hired an attorney to handle her paper work, which cost us $2500.
