Canada will play host to the first week matches of Pool B at the World League, which will be covered from May 18-20. The world No. 18 Canadian squad will be joined by teams from Poland, Finland, and Brazil.
Brazil is the runner-up of previous edition of the FIVB World League, while Poland finished in the third place. Canada will open the tournament by taking on Finland but the next two matches against Brazil and Poland will surely put the hosts to a test.
That is why the Canadian men are determined to give out an up to the mark performance. They are currently undergoing tough training and practice in order to sharpen their skills and to overcome their flaws.
Volleyball Canada recently held a press conference to officially introduce the Pool B Toronto leg of 2012 FIVB World League. The national team members and coaching staff attended the conference. Dan Lewis and Louis-Pierre Mainville, the two top Canadian
players, also showed up at the assembly and shared their views.
Speaking of the upcoming event, Mainville stated, “To play in the World League means a lot to us. It’s the most prestigious event in the world. We will be facing good teams, and it will be a great way to prepare for the Olympics.”
Lewis commented that it is going to be a great experience for them and the team is looking forward to it.
Meanwhile, the Canadian Olympic Committee member Derek Kent said, “Toronto will be left with a great legacy of volleyball. We look forward to seeing all that can be done here in Toronto. The power of sport can transform our country. This is a must attend
event when it comes here.”
The FIVB Volleyball World League 2012 is scheduled to take place from May 18 to July 8, where sixteen teams from all over the world will join the volleyball scrimmage. The opening rounds of the tournament will be hosted by different participating countries
