In the first mach on Thursday, April 19, the Canadian duo crossed paths with German pairing of Jonathan Erdmann and Kay Matysik. The sharp German side finished the match in 38 minutes and stamped 2-0 (21-14, 25-23) victory over Redmann/Saxton.
The German duo opened the match a strong footing and came up heavy attacks. They served with great accuracy and delivered convincing shots. They went up on the scoreboard by adding quick points, while Canadian players seemed flabbergasted. They failed to
penetrate the power of killing spikes and deadly aces from the German duo. The opening set swiftly inched its way to the end, while Redmann/Saxton could not bring any change in the game. Eventually, German side hit the mark with 21-14 and secured first frame
of the match.

a stellar performance and did not allow the Canadian Counterparts to come up. They clinched success in the similar fashion as Germany did. Austria pair posted 2-0 (21-17, 21-14) victory over Redmann/Saxton and caused elimination for the Canadian side.
