  1. well, first of all, you need to be a skilled worker. you can't just decide to move to canada, apply for residency and then get it. you need to be fully qualified for it. go to www.cic.gc.ca to see if you qualify for an immigrant visa.

you should know that being an immigrant means that you have to start from scratch. doesn't matter if it is the US or canada, you always have to prove yourself. i have been an immigrant to canada and then the US... and i can tell you that immigrants for both countries have to struggle to survive and get a footing towards a better life. it doesn't happen in an instant.

i don't know what advantage you are talking about... each country is its own system. there are some good things and there are some bad things.

it takes about 2-3 years for an immigrant visa to canada to be processed from the US

  2. Go to the Canadian Consulate near you, and pick up an application form.

No, you will have to go to the back of the line, you can NOT butt in line.

Because of the backlog, it will take 2 or 3 years, before your case might be decided.

If you move here illegally anyway and Immigration decides that you do not qualify, you may be deported.

  3. Provided Immigration Canada does not encounter any problems with your application and providing you qualify to immigrate to Canada, then you are looking at anywhere from 3 to 5 years.

Please don't assume that being an immigrant in the USA will net you any special treatment because it won't. As the other responder said, you will have to go to the end of the line and wait your turn like everyone else.

I would strongly advise you to check out

    http://www.cic.gc.ca

  4. Your question is very complicated as so many immigrants are accepted for a variety of reasons.

We accept refugees with No Money.

    We accept Millionaires (China)

    Political refugees.

You can be sponsored by a family member and they are now responsible for you for ten years.

I arrived here from England in 54 and was given "Landed Status" at the dock.

You may be accepted but the wait is long.

If you go to one of our consulates you can get all the facts pertaining to personal situation.

    Good Luck
