Have been reading about Portugal. Do you think it would be a nice place to go for a quiet getaway for a few weeks. Thanks.

  1. I think that it would be a wonderful place to get away.  They also have some lovely vineyards that you can visit.  You might even look into finding one that perhaps has a bed and breakfast type of setting, hey?  Good luck and good traveling.

  2. Yes Portugal is a wonderful place. i go there every year. the poeple there are warm and friendly. and theres alot of other retired folks u can chat with :D, not that u would even be able to understand them though.

  3. No. You would have to give up to many laws that protect you.

  4. Havent been there myself - sounds great..

hard to reccommend someplace without knowing what you are interested in... sun and sand?  history?  Social?

I went to Cuba for 1 week.. found 1 week too short, but 2 weeks would be too much

Costa Rica very nice was there longer - San Jose was NOT nice.. but excellent country if you are into eco tourism...

I also loved England.. rent a car - go on the "A" roads.. Bed and Breakfast.. castles... antique shops.. quaint villages (Isle of Wight is a must see)....

but again it depends what you are into (I like the ocean but CANNOT sit on a beach for days)

  5. I think it`s actually a great place.

  6. florida is the best place to spend the winter its not only nicely temperatured but its full of all sorts of fun. so many amusement parks ull never sleep FOR EX "PLEASURE ISLAND" nice place for adults no kids and its only in florida

but if ur talkin bout a quiet getaway just plain and simple

    HAWAII

  7. Madeira.  I lived there for 6 months in the winter and the weather was great, around 70-80F most days. There is a lot to see/do but its a relaxing island, not hot on nightlife.  Go to the hotels for entertainment.  Not a nightclub island thankfully!

  8. Yes Portugal is a beautifully country, I would suggest you to go to Algarve (Mediterranean ocean) and not just because of the nice beaches and warm weather but also the language, everybody speaks English there. Now concerns about the local law, you are as safe in Portugal as you are in Canada. the laws are a Little different of course is a different country with their own way of living. Some people (especially from England) criticised the Portuguese police in the young girl's disappearance, well a couple months later a study in England showed Portugal as one of the 10 safer countries in the world.

Have a great time if you decide to go.

  9. YES YES!!!! Its warm there's great food and warm loving people what else do you need!
