Question:

Canadians: Are we too laid back?

Canada still has no medals, but I think it's a reflection of how we live our lives. Canadian athletes are happy to participate, but lack the competitive edge that most other countries have. Many athletes from different countries are trained very young to push the limits, and have high expectations. Canada seems to be there for the fun of it. What do you think?

  1. Nah! they just want to be HAPPY PEOPLE.  Do you rather see Canadians in controversies linked to steroids or not-being-16 or faked fireworks?

  2. Too Laid back??? I don't think so, hon.  I've seen them extremely competitive and terribly rude on the road. They probably luck rigorous consistent olympic level of training. If you do have that training they should be grabbing some medals such as Chinese athletes. That is just my opinion, since you've asked. Athletes participate in the olympics just to have fun??? You know the real answer don't you! Canadians are just not good enough to win the medals as many countries including my own. That is the truth! But that has to do not only with the athletes ability, it has to do with government funding that provide to these poor athletes to train well in order to succeed.  The athletes goes to olympics not just to have fun, they go there to represent their home country and to achieve their dreams. Olympics is a kind of game but is not a game that you go there just to have  fun.

  3. I think Canada just isn't as good at the summer sports, but we exel at the winter Games, see you in Vancouver 2010!!

Hey Farglziaz, the world doesn't revolve around America, you people are so pretentious it make me sick, no wonder you guys are one of the most hated nations in the world. I can't wait for the day when you guys are kissing our as$ for oil and fresh water, and we slam the door in your face. But you'll probably just declare war on us! Hasn't that always been the American way??

  4. As people we are laid back. I think it is because of the rural landscape of Canada and the common sense we have.

But as athletes I think you are wrong. We are there to win. It has been stated many times that there is little funding for our athletes to compete at the highest level. Many of the athletes have part time jobs and pay for themselves. If the Canadian government helped more we would see better results.

  5. I just visited Canada, and the people there are much more laid back than the people in the US.

I found service at restaurants to be horribly slow, and the servers really didn't care.

    Im not putting it down.

everything just seemed a little slower.

  6. We lack the funding, it's as simple as that. Having been an elite athlete I know this for a fact.

  7. I'm surprised we have yet to win any medals, I mean even North Korea has more medals than us. But, in all reality, we do much better in the Winter Olympics anyways....
