  1. Brock University in St. Catherines, which is only 20 min. north of Niagara Falls.   Highly rated by student surveys, although not the largest univ. in the country.   A safe and relatively lower cost community.    Also, some applies to Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario.   Out west, my advice is University of Victoria

  2. Alberta-Calgary

  3. It depends on what you want to study what University you want to attend. Each University specializes in different things.

I am from Ontario and therefore can comment mostly on Ontario Universities.

Ottawa (UWO and Carlton) is beautiful but very expensive to live in.

Waterloo (UW and Laurier) Great city, not expensive, very University feeling to it since there are two Uni's and a College.

Kingston (Queens) Nice city, can be pricey if you want to live close to the campus.

London (Western) London is dirty. Enough said.

I think your best bet is to figure out what you want to study, find out which Universities are known for that discipline and then do some research into the town. If at all possible, I strongly recommend  visiting the universities, getting a feel for the campus and the city itself.

    Hope that helps.

  4. Ontario, St. Catharines

The university there is Brock University.  I don't know if its a "top" university, but its far enough from Toronto that housing prices aren't bad.  Most students from what I remember rode the bus system so the traffic wasn't too bad.  But then its been 8 years since I went to school then and I was a bus rider not a driver so can't say for sure what its like now!

  5. Kelowna BC still fairly affordable these days, everything with university is pretty expensive.. and its still kinda small town so its safe as far as that kinda thing goes.
