Cancelled Preseason could have impact on Regular Season if Lockout Ends -NHL Update
While the preseason might not seem that important to many, it is certainly a crucial start to any regular season in the National Hockey League (NHL) and has many things associated with it that teams capitalise on in terms of preparing for a tougher competition
later on in the year.
Only days ago, the NHL took the step to cancel the entire preseason, which fans were looking forward to and seeing how that happened in an instant, many are beginning to doubt the chances of the regular season being able to kick off on time.
There is no doubt to the fact that unless the upcoming meeting set for Friday between the NHL and Players’ Association bears any significant progress, the regular season will be under serious threat of being locked out for good and could be in that stage
for the entire hockey year, the second time in less than a decade.
When the negotiation process started back in June of this year, it seemed like everything was on track but the scenario changed for the worst in such an instant that all the fans could barely think about it over but the lockout had already been announced.
A deal needs to be implemented by both sides in the early days of October in order to save the regular season or else it could be devastation for the hockey year altogether. Seeing the season from the start is always on the minds of every hockey fan and
with a number of hockey weeks gone, continuing to follow the season, see who makes the Playoffs and eventually wins the Stanley Cup would just be a total waste of time for many and not thrilling at all.
Financial reasons like players share in team revenue is the major factor of the deadlock at the moment, but there is no telling what could happen in the upcoming days and weeks as both sides get together after a two-week long deadlock.
Now all fans can do is pray for a regular season to come around and the stakeholders to save the day for their favourite sport.
