Question:

Cancelled a direct debit but the money still goes out?

Cancelled my previous car insurance 4 days before it ended, the company "Screentrade" then sent out a new policy document anyway, I rang up again telling them I'd cancelled and was told it was sorted but I had to return all the paperwork.

Did that and cancelled the direct debit just in case.

Now today I find they collected the deposit and first installment anyway. How is this possible when the debit no longer exists, is it legal?

  1. most companies take the money first and then send u the paper work.

cancel the d'd with the bank.

  2. In the direct debit guarantee it says you can cancel direct debits as long as its (at least) 3 working days before the date it's due to leave your account!

  3. Direct debits get sent out well in advance.  Just contact Screentrade and your bank and they'll pay it back.

  4. You need to cancel it with your bank, also inform your insurance co manyy that you havecancelledd it as from: and give them the date.

  5. Make use of google to collect some related links or you could try to use answer engines like yahoo answer or answer.com to get some related answers.nonetheless,If you like some direct resource, here is a good resource from my own experience.http://car-insurance.bestips.info/car-in...

  6. There is a Direct Debit guarantee that promises to rectify any mistakes. Your Bank will correct the mistake on your behalf if you ask them to. You should have cancelled the DD by contacting your Bank. Also phone calls to firms are worse than useless. You have to write and keep a copy in case you need to prove your actions. Good luck.

  7. you need to instruct your bank that its cancelled.
