I just cancelled and would NOT like to reschedule my dental appointment tomorrow for 10AM, and I called like at 8PM today so its a 14 hour notice, which I dont think it counts for anything, I think I will get charged with a fee >.< anyways. i was wondering, how do you pay them? check? money order?

And does this like effect my reputation with my insurance company? because I jsut got approved for crowns and since i cancelled would my insurance company say anything? would they still like approve my crown again if i went to another dentist?

  1. SURE YOU SHOULD GET CHARGED A FEE! IF YOU KNOW THAT YOU DID NOT WANT TO KEEP THE APPOINTMENT WHY WOULD YOU WAIT FOR 8PM TO LET THE OFFICE KNOW? DO YOU THINK THEY CAN FIND SOMEBODY IN THEIR BACK POCKET TO PUT IN YOUR PLACE AT THE LAST MINUTE?! Your appointment was probably scheduled for a hour and a half for the crown right? That's a whole lot of production time that's lost and cannot be filled at the last minute! Understand? If I were you I would call them and let them know why you cancelled the appointment, maybe you do not like the dentist, you are not comfortable with the office or you are just nervous. If they are a good office then they will not charge you, but if you leave them hanging then they probably will charge you.

Trust me your insurance company could care less if cancelled your appointment. They are not interested in paying anyway. The new dentist will just have to resubmit the pre authorization for the crowns. Simple as that. If you are not ready to get the work done, don't waste peoples time by scheduling an appointment that you don't want!

  2. Like the other post said, your insurance company would probably prefer that you did not reschedule the appointment. Then, they do not have to pay.You are free to seek another opinion, but you may have to pay for a second opinion. All depends on how your policy is written. Some will pay for a 2nd opinion, some won't.I would not be so worried about your insurance company. They don't have any interest in you, other than what you pay them every month for your coverage.

It is really best to give a dental office at least 24 hours notice when you cancel an appointment, some offices would require 48 hours notice. The appointments really are hard to fill last minute and that leaves the office staff scrambling to fill a significant amount of time. You can pay the late cancel fee by cash, check, money order, credit card, how ever you would normally pay any bill is fine.
