In trying to save money I recently switched my auto insurance from AAA to another company. My policy with AAA doesn't expire for a few more months. Am I going to have to keep paying both companies or get dinged with fees from AAA for cancelling before the policy expires?

  1. No need to have both insurances.  The old AAA policy will be prorated and some of the already paid premium will be returned to you.  Of course You will need to notify AAA to cancel the policy though

  2. No, the new company will notify AAA for you. But ask them to be sure, In CT, I just switched from Liberty Mut to Nationwide.

Liberty just sent me a refund for more than I expected !

But be careful because some companies will offer you a low, "teaser" rate just to get youto switch. But then, in a year, they jump you with an increase.

Best to obey laws and don't get any tickets and also try to avoid accidents to keep your rates low. But, it's not always the case.  Accidents happen!!
