Question:

Cancelling my holiday?

I booked an all inclusive holiday to cuba a few weeks back and i had a letter a couple of days ago saying there was building work going on in the hotel and we 'could change accommodation without paying the penalty charge.' The thing is I dont want to change accommodation, I want that hotel without the renovation works!! I rang them up and they said they'd put a request in to cancel the holiday. Im just wondering where i stand if they say no...any advice would be great thanks xx

  1. it depends when you are going on holiday

we could cancell ours anytime before 8 weeks before we flew

you need to check your contract

  2. Well, u booked it for cuba, they can do what they want.

  3. You could check the terms and conditions. You should get a full refund as most would consider it to be a significant change, and that's why they contacted you about it.. In any case, unless you are going in a few weeks, the most you could loose is your deposit. It sounds as though they are acting in good faith and will return your money. Good Luck

  4. The only way you can have that hotel without the work is if you re- book for another time when the work is finished, you make it sound like they should stop the work for you. Either change the destination or go and put up with it. If you do go you wont be able to complain as you were warned. im sure you can cancel without penalty as it is something out of your control.

  5. hi, you have to book new hotels in Cuba. If they did not send you any mail then you can claim for it but it is not an easy task means time consuming.

  6. You have been given the option to change, so any cancelletion will be scrapped by your holiday insurance. I know it will be a disappointment, but perhaps either stay there with the building works going on (it may be minor) or choose to change accommodation. Whatever will be will be and it may all work out well to your advantage - dont cancel as you will surely lose all your payment.
