What are the best pain relief drugs for acute pain for a person suffering from secondary cancer. firstly breast cancer & now its liver cancer. need a list of medication right up to the strongest

That would be to hard for anyone to answer. We don't know if you have allergies to some meds. So let me assure you no doctor is going to allow you to suffer any more pain if they can help it. Some cancer like bone cancer is hard to treat the pain. But they will do there best to find something for the person.

There is no single plan of action or drug regimen that always works best.  The best drug regimen is the one that happens to work well for a particular person. Your Dr might need to experiment to figure out what works and what doesn't.

I guess it would start with paracetamol n others drugs similar, co-codamol, codeine phosphate which is a bit stronger, fentynl patches, morphine, oromorph.

These are the most commonly prescribed painkillers.

From weakest to strongest:

Acetaminophen

OTC Nsaid's -Ibuprofen 200mg, Aspirin, Alleve etc

Prescription Nsaid's -Ibuprofen 600/800mg, Diclofenac, Ketoprofen, Indomethacin, Celebrex, Toradol, among many others.

Narcotics/combinations:

Propoxyphene- Darvocet

Codeine- Tylenol w/codeine

Hydrocodone-  Vicodin, Lortab

Oxycodone-  Percocet, Oxycontin

Meperidine- Demerol

Morphine- immediate and sustained release preparations

Hydromorphone- Dilaudid

Oxymorphone- Opana

Fentanyl- Duragesic transdermal patch, Actiq lolipops
