Question:

Cancun, Mexico - good honeymoon location?

I'm getting married a year today!

My partner and I haven't been able to agree on a honeymoon destination yet, but both like the idea of Cancun in Mexico. We've never been to that part of the world (we live in Europe), so could someone tell me a little about it? Would it be a suitable place for a 2-week honeymoon?

We don't want to end up in a party place (like Ayia Napa or Tijuana), but somewhere fun, with lots to do, and also somewhere where we can relax by the beach. I've heard the Mayan village is there, and you can scuba dive, but is there anything else to do?

Thanks

  1. Honestly, it's really not a good honey moon spot if you are looking for a quiet romantic getaway. There are a lot of younger people there with big parties, a ton of booze, and one night stands. But if you are into a fun party scene with a lot of people and a lot of things to do, Cancun is for you. Activities include:

    Parasailing

    Jet Skiing

    Scuba diving

    Snorkeling

Visiting Mayan ruins (Tulum, Chichen Itza)

There is a lot of beautiful beach, but there are all usually crowded and it's not an ideal spot to relax. It's more of a spoiled paradise than authentic beauty. But it is a ton of fun. I've stayed at the Moon Palace, a huge all-inclusive resort, and it's beautiful and fabulous, I have no complaints. They have a special travel package for honeymooners, I would recommend looking at their site: www.palaceresorts.com. Good luck and congrats!

  5. Congratulations! That's great for you and your partner! Cancun is a beautiful place and very romantic. My boyfriend and I are going at the end of this month for a little couple's getaway. Most of the hotels have great pools, restaurants, and rooms. And a lot of them lead right to the beach. There are lots of things to do, such as snorkeling, swimming with the dolphins, para sailing, and tours of the city. Most places near Mexico are a little expensive though because they add gratuity to a lot of things that you usually wouldn't. But it is a very good place for a honeymoon. If you end up going I hope you have fun!

  6. The Mayan Villa is great.

But I can recommend, the Melia in Cozumel.

    And also you can visit.

  7. Well regardless of what anybody else says.....Cancun is the best Honeymoon place you could find.  There are many choices for hotels ranging from very active to very quiet and romantic.  I would be glad to help you choose one.  I loved it so much....I moved here.  I am a travel agent and would be glad to give you some suggestions.  There are many different activities to do as well.  I know some great tours....anything from adventure to educational.  You can email me if you want some suggestions.  There are also some good resorts in Playa del Carmen...about 45 minutes south of Cancun.  Actually, for a honeymoon, I would suggest going there.  I also have many suggestions for this.  Just email me and I will send you some websites to visit so you can check out the resorts.  You will have a wonderful Honeymoon.

  8. Cancun mexico and its near by islands were alright, nothing super and the beach isn't the best, yet its always crowded.. i would recommend Porto Rico for its food and nice environment and either the cayman island , virgin island, or the Bahamas for its nice  beaches and relaxing environment

Mayan history isn't that interesting, they do have a few historical structures, but thats about it. you can scuba dive, go in a submarine, pet dolphins for 100 dollars, and they do have a park nearby. its not really romantic though. more of a family thing

  9. Yeah I would definitely recommend Moon Palace. It is an all-inclusive resort. I especially would recommend it for weddings. there are tons of things to do such as:

Going to Isla Mujeres there you can swim with the dolphins  and go snorkeling

         Xpu-ha

          climb the pyramids

go to clubs such as: the Senor Frogs and Coco Bongo. Coco Bongo is downtown of Cancun.

here is a website that you can visit to see more about Moon Palace:
