  1. every year i take a week with friends and one alone. i always have more fun when i travel alone. i wake up when i want, eat when i want,  do what i want etc... when you get to the resort, grab a beer and  walk around to check it out. find the hot tub, disco, bars and check to see what activities there are(there is usually a posting with the evenings activities and next days events). have something to eat. go at different times and look around to see who else is eating alone. don't be a stalker, but if you see them later at the pool, disco etc chances are they are traveling alone and may be interested in having a conversation. hit the hot tub or the disco. everybody is on vacation, so starting a conversation is not hard (where you from, when did you get in, what have you enjoyed doing, have you eaten at  one of the restuarants etc... the next day, hit the pool, go snorkeling, go into town,  take part in the daily activities on the beach or by the pool like volleyball etc...or just lay around and read a book. unless you're being a jerk, if you are having fun people will want to talk with you. the main thing is, don't be shy and stay in your room. there's always something to do. it all depends on what you want to do. get out and enjoy yourself. have a blast

  2. Riu Palace Las Americas (RPLA) is a wonderful high end All-Inclusive resort. For the most part, the property tends to have more laid back, couples and families. However, do not worry, if you are looking for more activities than what you find at RPLA, you are allowed to visit and use the facilities at the next door sister resort Riu Cancun. I happen to like the idea that you are staying at RPLA because it is such a beautiful property, and is much nicer than the Riu Cancun. The restaurants serve better quality fare, the wine is even higher end, and there's a lounge on premises. The best part for the money is that it is a relaxing property and you can always find a quiet corner to hide. Why this is good is because if you were staying at the Riu Cancun, you would be hard pressed to find a quiet place. This resort has a lot of families with children, and a more lively atmosphere. Why this is great for you, because you can spend as much time there as you wish, and retreat back to your nicer resort when you please. One final thought is that your resort is in an excellent location, within a 7 minute walk from the Party Center. This is the area that Cancun is famous for, with several restaurants, shops and the nightlife you cannot find anywhere else on this side of the world.

    Have fun planning your vacation,

  3. It's a funny thing but you meet the best people on vacation. You are never alone. Everyone is very friendly in Cancun. I have met many who travel alone and they meet up with solo travelers just by being nice and friendly.

I would just join the activities you like, it doesn't have to be just singles. Sometimes you will find a couple and a single person traveling together. The best source is the entertainment staff or the bartenders they can steer you in the right direction.

You will be at a great resort and trust me you will meet more people than you want to meet.

    Go and enjoy)
