This will be my first trip to Cancun so I have a few questions. 1)Is it wise to change currency in the US or do they take the US dollar? 2) what is the best way to get into the clubs to avoid lines & get drinks? 3)Around how much would swimming w/dolphins & parasailing run(any deals)? And anyone else who is going to be there from july 3-6??????????

  1. 1.  They take the U.S. dollar everywhere in Cancun, so if you're staying in Cancun don't bother with exchanging.  The only time we needed pesos was for the air hockey game in the hotel, which only took half-peso coins.  Also, if you need to get cash from an ATM, it will be given to you in pesos so even if you want to use pesos, just go to an ATM there in Mexico to get them.

    2.  We didn't visit any clubs, but the hotel offered a deal where they would take you to a club each evening (Senor Frog's, for example) for $40, bypass the line and seat you in the VIP area, and unlimited drinks were included.  Sounds like a good deal!  There was also a "Party Hopper" deal offered by tour operators which was similar, but they took you to three different clubs for $65.

    3.  We didn't price the dolphins, but parasailing was $30.  Rental of wave runners was also $30 for 1/2 an hour.

  2. As far as changing money, I always change money to the local currency, since you don't run the risk of getting short changed and it shows respect for the country that you are visiting.

Second, most change will be in pesos anyway, so you might as well change your dollars for pesos.

With the Mexican peso, practically 10 to 1, it is quite easy to figure out prices, drop the last digit to the right. Ex: 100 pesos equals 10 dollars, plain and simple.

As far as July 4th in Cancun, that's another story.

Hot as h**l up north and I'm sure the same there.

    Good Luck.

  3. exchange money before that way no chance of getting ripped off.  Dolphins runs about 50 bucks and para-sailing is around 50-100 I wouldn't suggest para-sailing in Cancun that stuff should be done in the US where there are safety measures. AND remember do not take a drink from anyone. always watch who makes your drink and or pop off the cap yourself.   otherwise have fun
