Cancun/Playa del Carmen topless: family friendly???

Question

I am in the process of canceling our family vacation at Playa del Carmen since I see that 10% of the women sunbathe topless according to playinfo.com and many inquires. Is it true?

Isn't there a gated All Inclusive that we could go to? My kids are teen and p*****n and it will not be fun trying to avoid this.

Please no jokes, I am serious.

My husband and I went to Cozumel (Island directly across from Playa del Carmen) and every beach we went to the people were fully clothed :). Cozumel is much, much, much more family friendly. The island is small, clean and safe and you don't have the same "party"scene as the mainland. The Melia Cozumel is a WONDERFUL all inclusive that caters to families. I hope it is not too late to cancel your trip! I would definitely look into Cozumel if I were you. You get the same (if not better, in my opinion) experience,  it's just quieter, less crowds and very family friendly! I hope this helps!

okay....I live here...and yes there are places where you will see a few women sunbathing topless....as with anywhere.  

There are many family friendly resorts.  Club Med is an adult only resort and you will see that.  Exactly what resort did you plan on staying in while in Playa.  That would make a big difference.  I tend to disagree with the 10 percent number....I see it rarely.  If you would email me with the name of the resort ....I could provide more information for you.  I could also suggest some resorts that I feel would be very safe and more reserved.  I wouldnt get too bent out of shape over it....I know you do not want to submit your children to such nudity, but I wouldnt cancel my vacation over some reviews on the internet.  I will advise you as best I can if you want to contact me.  Don't worry....just go enjoy the beautiful beach in Playa and have some wonderful family time together.

I just got back from Club Med Cancun, there were some nude people there. If you walk along the beach, to where other enclosed resorts are, you'll see the same thing. Honestly its not that big of a deal if one or two women are topless, don't be so conservative. I'm a 15 y/o teen, and seeing women topless was a new sight, but it IS just skin.

My son was 15 when we went to Playa I did not know it was topless he got over it in about a day or two mostly Europeans no girls his age were topless mostly fat older women. Now Cozumel is a blast and I did not see any topless Ixtapa either. To be very honest at first it was WOW what a novelty and it wore off quit quickly. So it really is up to you it did not spoil our vacation. I think it bothered my husband more there were young girls I mean like 9-11 topless and he was like God in the US I would get arrested but being a man how do you not look it upset him that the parents allowed it but then when their kids were teens they put the brakes on probably because the US boys are staring only natural.any ways Cozumel had great snorkeling and plenty to do and it's only a few bucks for a ferry ride to playa if you wanted to go for the day. hope this helps good luck.
