Cancun and belize?

how far is it from cancun? what do i need to enter? how safe is...crime? is it modern or poverty?

Since the previous person responding could not speak for Belize, I will take a shot.

He is right about the travel times - no need for further comment.

Assuming that you are a US citizen then then all you will need is your passport.  They will ask why you are in the country and how long you intend on staying.

How safe - generally most places in Belize are safe.  The place that you need to be the most careful is Belize City (as you need to be in most bigger cities in any country).  Just keep to the more populated parts of the city and you should be fine.

Modern or poverty - both.  There are parts of Belize that are new and very modern but more sections of Belize that are poverty stricken.  However, I have found that although many parts of Belize may not look as nice as the States there are many fantastic people here who are worth getting to know.  There are also parts of Belize that are very beautiful - nature, ruins, etc.

From Cancun it's 4 hrs drive in the car probably 5 or 6 hrs in bus. to the border and if you want to go to Belize city its another 4 hrs drive. Cancun is safer than anywhere else but I cant say that for Belize.
