Candace Parker had all-around game in Los Angeles Sparks’ 86-82 overtime victory over the slumping Washington Mystics at Verizon Center. The 25-year-old racked up 19 points, including go-ahead lay-up with 38.9 seconds to go in
O.T., grabbed nine rebounds, dished out five assists, blocked five shots and stole the ball for three times.
Parker scored five of her points in the O.T. and finished with 5 for 12 effort from the field and 8 for 13 from free throw line.
Crystal Langhorne
Crystal Langhorne scored a game high 28 points in Washington’s sixth straight loss. Langhorne also grabbed nine rebounds and dished out three assists in nearly 45 minutes of action. Washington’s forward was 13 for 23 from the
field.
Atlanta Dream vs. Chicago Sky
Angel McCoughtry
Angel McCoughtry topped all the scores on the night with 22 points, including a pair of go-ahead free throws with 2.5 seconds to go in the game, in Atlanta Dream’s 83-80 victory over Chicago Sky at Allstate Arena. McCoughtry also
seven rebounds and had three steals for Dream. The player ended the game with 6 for 17 from floor and 10 for 13 from the line.
Sylvia Fowles
Sylvia Fowles recorded a double-double in Chicago’s defeat, which snapped their two-game winning streak. The 6 ft 6 in centre scored 20 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for her team.
The two-time WNBA All-Star, who is averaging 20.3 points and 10.1 rebounds per game in this season, also blocked four shots and stole the ball twice. She was 9 for 12 from the field on the night.
Minnesota Lynx vs. Tulsa Shock
Taj McWilliams-Franklin
Taj McWilliams-Franklin tallied 18 points in Minnesota Lynx’s 78-72 win over the slumping Tulsa Shock at BOK Center. The centre forward grabbed four rebounds, dealt out four assists and blocked two shots in the league-leading Lynx’s
third consecutive victory. The veteran player went 7 for 13 from the floor and 4 for 6 from free throw line.
Amber Holt
Amber Holt added 18 points and three rebounds in Tulsa’s WNBA-worse 19th consecutive defeat. Holt finished on 6 for 10 shooting from the floor, including 2 for 5 from three-point range, and 4 for 4 from the line.
Seattle Storm vs. San Antonio Silver Stars
Tanisha Wright
Tanisha Wright led Seattle Strom with 16 points, seven rebounds and two assists in their 63-55 victory over the San Antonio Silver Stars at Key Arena.
Wright, who was the WNBA champion for 2010, pinned 8 of 8 free throws in second consecutive victory for Storm.
Sophia Young
Sophia Young had a team high 14 points in the Silver Stars’ fourth straight defeat. Young also grabbed eight rebounds and stole the ball twice in the loss. The player was 7 for 14 from the field.
New York Liberty vs. Phoenix Mercury
Cappie Pondexter
Cappie Pondexter posted 17 of her game high 25 points in the fourth period in New York Liberty’s 74-70 victory over the Phoenix Mercury. Pondexter grabbed a team best eight rebounds and stole the ball for three times to snap Mercury’s
two-game winning streak. The 28-year-old pinned 5 of 6 free throws in more than 32 minutes.
Candice Dupree
Candice Dupree contributed 17 points and seven rebounds in Phoenix’s disappointing loss. Dupree hit 7 for 15 from the floor and 3 for 4 from free throw line.
