Candle wax on cotton...how can i remove it?

I spilled a little white candle wax on a brown cotton shirt of mine..how can i remove the little bit of candle wax? I tried scraping it..but its just getting whiter and bigger.............

  1. Here is what ya do! I use to make candles out of old candles and stuff and i would get wax on my all the time.. take as much of it off as you can. you are going to have to use hot water! thats what i use. run it under hot water and dont put alot of pressure! the hot water should lift the wax out. If your water doesnt get that hot boil some. let it soak in there for a little while! Good luck


  2. First try freezing the wax with ice cubes or putting the shirt in the freezer for 20 min. Then scrape.

    OR, using a couple of layers of paper towels under and over the stain, take a hot iron and "melt" the wax. The wax will soak into the paper towels. Then wash as usual. If all the wax is off, but there is still a stain, treat with a Spray N Wash stain stick.

  3. scrape off excess wax and then use some brown paper over the stain and a warm iron to remove, good luck x

  4. Ammonia is supposed to remove candle wax, but I'm not sure if it's safe on clothing.

  5. really hot water just on the bit that needs it, use  a cloth to wipe away,
