  1. defo have in in the basement. u cud decorate everything with pink balloons and sparkly things. make a dress code that all the girls need to dress up, and have candifloss too!

  2. FUN Idea!!!

Party America (and other party stores) can get expensive. And you can do most of it your self with a dollar store and some creativity! If you are worried about weather ruining your day you could clean up the basement and have it there. You'll have more room for decorating.

BBQ is a great idea, have a couple of your closest friends bring a side dish so you don't have to do all the work. I would suggest you wear whatever you usually go out in.

You can get candy at some dollar stores or an overstock store and there's nothing wrong with it, just that whatever store bought it got too much! You can also get a lot of the decoration stuff at these stores! Or if you want to save on the decorations and get the candy at bulk candy store (ask them for a discount).

Decorate with streamers, cardboard cutouts, all kinds of fun stuff.  You can make giant candy land characters. The Photo Cutouts are pretty simple, you just need to have a theme in mind, like the characters for candy land. Just get a refrigerator (or large) box and paint the character on it, then cut out the head, make it bigger than a very large head. Then have the people getting pics taken hold it, and when its not being used prop it up against the wall.

You can do lolly pops poked into a styrofoam ball and placed on top of a parfait glass, bowl or vase to make it look like a bouquet or ice cream cone. Put jelly beans in a clear pitcher and put small dixie type cups next to them so people can pour their beans -- and keep their hands out of it!

  3. There's SO much you can do!

Decorate in bright colors, like pinks, turquiose, white, etc.  You can do pink tablecloths, turqoise, and then do white and pink napkins, etc.  Whatever color you do as the tablecloth, do the napkin in an accent color.

Get balloons in the same colors and cluster them in corners around the party area.  Get some streamers in the same colors and start putting them in the center of the ceiling out to the corners of the room.

You can go to the craft store and get some cotton batting in the sewing section and spray paint it pink and puff it around the party area it will look like cotton candy!  Just make sure not to put it where anyone walks so they don't trip!

There are a few things you can do for napkin rings. You can tie a piece of licorce around the napkins, or you can get those candies that are rings with the candy gemstones on top, the bottom part that goes around your finger is plastic, but the top is candy, you can put the plastic part around the napkin and have the gemstone part facing up.  Or you can get those candies that are on the white paper they are round like little buttons and you bite them off with your teeth, you can wrap them around the napkins and tape them and make napkin rings out of them.

For centerpieces, get a piece of floral foam and cut it to fit into a clear vase, then cover them with lots of skittles or jelly beans and put into the foam the big lollipops, like 3 to each vase, they'll stick out like flowers would, but instead, you have lollipops!

You can also get some clear vases and fill them with colorful hard candy, like lemonheads in one, jelly beans in another, m&m's in another, mike and Ikes in another and so on.

Set up an ice cream bar! Get chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream and some toppings. Sprinkles, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and marachino cherries and have everyone make their own sundaes.  You can get the plastic sundae dishes at the dollar store OR the waffle cone bowls at the grocery store.

Pinata!  Being it's a candy theme, you can go to the party store and find one you like, and in the same aisle, there's usually what's called pinata filler, and it's just that, big bags of candy to fill them with.  You can get the regular pinata that you break to open or the ones you pull the string to open.  Just be sure BEFORE doing it, you write everyone's name on their bags, so there are NO arguments after the party over whose bag is whose!

I LOVE the idea of a bbq!  Burgers and hot dogs are great and this way it's not all sweets and candy.  You can do some toppings like lettuce and tomatos for the burgers with ketchup and mustard and relish and saurkrut for the hot dogs.

For the cardboard things, just go to the craft store and get some foamboard, big enough to draw a face and body out of, you can even tape a few together, just make sure to tape them from behind, and then draw out what you want!  Then using an x-acto knife, cut out the hole, it's going to take a few times to get through the layers of foam, usually about 3 or so depending on how thick the board is you buy.  The thicker it is, the more it's going to take to cut out.  It will come out though!  This is probably the easiest way to do this.

You can also do cotton candy and popcorn.

Make the candy the favors!  Go to the dollar store and get the paper bags that have handles, the gift bags, get ones that are either a one color or decorative, whatever YOU like and get one for each guest.  Then AFTER your party, (wait until after so you still have all your displays and decorations), have everyone take the candy they would like as favors!  They can fill their bags with whatever candy they would like to take home with them!

You can also get each guest candy necklaces and bracelets and the candy lipsticks and things like that.

As for what you should wear, wear what YOU want!  It's YOUR party and you should wear what's going to make YOU comfortable!  If that's jeans and  shirt, go for it, if it's shorts and shirt, fine, if it's a dress, do that!  It's YOUR party and YOU have to be happy and comfortable too!  Wear what makes YOU happy!!

I hope some of these ideas help and that you have a great party and a very Happy Sweet Sixteen Birthday!!!

  4. go to any store and buy some fairly pretty napkins with candy on them . then buy 10-20 bid lolly pops . see if you have any huge fake candy canes from christmas then make a banner that says happy sweet 16,and hot glue some pieces of candy to the banner .make sure you have a big bowl of candy and party favors  thanks

  5. i think that a candy sweet 16 is quite good, but it should be a little more fun so i think you should have candy every where and a mini disco and the barbecue is cool , you could give it a surprise by wearing candy dress anyway i hope you might choose some of my ideas .

  6. throw lollipops everywhere

  7. I think the burgers and hot dogs is an excellant idea.  You could have it outside, if possible and make it into a backyard party.  It would be nice if the weather holds up for you if you do that.  You could do the candyland theme.  I know what you mean about the cutouts for pictures.  Don't know where you can get them.  You could try to paint it onto a big piece of wood or cardboard.  I also have seen it where it comes already printed on a piece of plastic and then you tack it onto a board to make it stand,(don't forget to cut the piece of wood out for the faces).

You could decorate the party with small dishes of gum drops, lollipops, etc.  Order a cake with similar colors used in your theme, maybe stick a couple of gum drops on the top to match.

You could wear a sundress or a cute summer outfit.  I wouldn't figure to wear a fancy, frilly dress, its not a formal type of party.

Another easy party to throw, is a hawaiian theme.  With leis, and tiki decorations. You could find a cheap grass skirt and dress to fit that theme.  www.partycity.com has alot of the decorations that you would need.  There is a store by me and I can find anything in that store for any theme.  You might want to look on that site just to get ideas.  Good Luck!
