Candyland Story?

I remember how to play the game but can't for the life of me remember how the story went and its been driving me crazy. It has something to do with lord licarice kidnapping king kandy right?

In Candyland, players try to be the first to reach the Candy Castle. No reading is required -- children can play as long as they recognize colors -- making it a good introductory game for very young children.  Some characters are the rather muddle-headed Gramma Nutt the warm-hearted Queen Frostine and even (shudder) the black-hearted Lord Licorice.

Yes and all the little characters in between try to help the chilren move on. All the characters oversee a certain part of Candyland and they all have problems after the king is kidnapped by lord licorice
