Well, may be not meet him personally, but if i wrote him a letter, would he respond back to it. I'm sure he gets tons of mail a day, but i am really caught up in a decision. I can either go into medicine, becaseu i really like medicine, and become a doctor, or i can set up my own business/become an investor, but i can't quite decide on which, and i like them both equally? What should i do?

P.s> i am 16, but i NEED to find an answer now...before school starts again...

  1. Well you could find out the financial endeavours he set out on when he was our age: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warren_Buff...

As for sending him a letter, I highly doubt it. A mutual fund manager not so long ago paid $3 million just to have dinner with this stock guru! If that was the cost of a mere dinner, I highly doubt anyone can communicate with this man. Not to fret however, there are some books which have compiled Warren Buffett's letters which are said to be highly intellectual and beneficial for the 'ordinary people'. I'm buying one soon!

    Good luck!

Edit: Just to answer your additional details, Warren Buffett went into investing at 11 years of age/ He bought a stock which was called City something. He bought it for some amount of money and then sold it, making a mediocre amount of profit. Only weeks later, the stock bounced to $200. That's where Warren Buffett developed his beliefs on Buying and Holding.

  2. You need to talk with your parents and school counselor, not Warren Buffett.

  3. I would prob first work on grammar and spelling. If you are thinking of getting into business or medicine you need to be accurate and precise in what you say and write.

I would talk to your parents and a school career counselor.

I would  also go visit 3 medical and business schools you have interest in and talk to counselors there who will give you an idea of what these carers involve in terms of grades, costs, time commitments, jobs, etc.

It's great that you are thinking about your future now.

In answer to your Buffett Q:

I know he does not read or respond to email. He gets a ton of letter mail and is not likely to respond to every letter. He is slightly busy running BRK.

    Best of Luck!

  4. Hahaha.. you really don't need to talk to Warren Buffett. I think your parents would know how to advise you, or you could speak to college counsellors that will help you our in deciding what to study or take personality tests that will tell what job suits your personality..

and if you really like medicine, go into medicine, you can always do investment as a side income, you don't have to be an active participant in the business that you set up with partners. Hence you still can jointly own a business and be a doctor :)

Take it easy. Do the things that make you happy. 16 is such a young age to be worrying..
