Canidae dog food owners?

Hello, those of you who feed your puppies/dogs Canidae food..I got a question for you.

I am planning on feeding my 8 week old puppy Canidae ALS (All Life Stages) and I got confused on the feeding guildlines. On the guildline it shows the weight, amount of food given based on the weight. Well my puppy weighs about 5 pounds. So it says according to the guildline, for puppies 2-10 pounds feed them 1/2- 1 1/2 cups. Does this mean your suppose to feed them 1 1/2 cups 3 times a day meaning... morning, lunch, and dinner or just feed them once a day and thats it? The guildline doesn't show how many times your suppose to feed them per day. I am confused...if somebody could help me out, that would be great...thank you.

  1. The suggested feeding amount on the bag means for the whole day.

For example, if it says 1 cup and you feed 3 times a day, you should feed 1/3 cup each meal.

    .

  2. Puppies need 3 feeds daily! They need a total of 1 1/2cups=

So this has to be spread out through the day.

Puppies age 8week=need 3 meals daily

    Puppy 6months older=2 meals daily

    So say for 8week old

+ puppy= 1/2 cup for Breakfast, 1/2 for lunch, 1/2 cup for dinner!

    For a 6month puppy=1cup breakfast, Dinner 1/2 cup

  3. For puppies, you should feed them either 2 or 3 times daily. Meaning you would divide that 1 cup of food into 3 meals. So in the morning puppy gets 1/3 cup, at lunch puppy gets 1/3 cup, and at dinner puppy gets 1/3 cup. See? You don't give him a whole cup or the whole serving at once. That amount means the amount the dog should have a day, not each meal.

As the dog matures into an adult, feeding once a day is plenty. I still feed my 7 month old twice a day, so he gets about a cup or two at each meal, but my other two get the amount their supposed to have in their bowls in the morning, and they usually pick at it all day.
