  1. France, as it usually happens in a Western European Country has a system of Public Universal Health Care. France and Germany have what can be consider as the best public health care system of the entire world.

USA  public health care system is not universal - usually you must have some sort of private insurance health care program.

USA has a great system when it comes to College Sports. No surprising several athletes from several different parts of the world chose USA as a place to training.

France has a well developed program of school sports.

  2. Concerning the health care system:

The French health care system is ranked as the best in the world by the WHO (World Hearth Organization, UN). The USA are ranked...37th!!! (I think I don't have to explain if you are american).

For instance, the national health insurance (or equivalent) is available for every French citizen.

It is almost entirely free for people affected by chronic diseases, and a doctor visit costs about 2$ (the other 30$ are paid by the national insurance). In fact, the French state pay about 79% of the health costs, the mutual insurers pay about 12%, and the others 9% are paid by the citizens (usually medications).

The big difference between the US system and the French one is that the French system is universal and almost free (health in France is a right and we don't let 10% of our population without insurance).

The overall life expectancy in France is 81 years, whereas it's 78 in the USA (29th).

    Now, for the physical conditions:

The United States has the highest rates of obesity in the developed world. 32,2% of the Americans are obese. That's a very important problem, mostly caused by bad diets. In France, 9,4% of the adults are obese (better diet).

That's right that the USA have one of the best university system for sport in the world. In france, the students nearly have no extra-activity and there is not soccer or rugby team in universities for example, like in the USA.

But in 2007, the government made a reform of the universities and there will be more campus acitvities (like in the US or in UK).

  3. If you do not have private health insurance in America, you cannot afford to be sick. A doctor visit costs $100.00.
