Cannavaro believes Napoli can win Scudetto; Laurentiis wants Champions League win: Serie A news
Italian legend, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-Cannavaro-c13164, believes Napoli can win the Scudetto in the ongoing campaign if they maintain their focus on the league.
The former defender believes that his former employers must enjoy their UEFA Champions League campaign and should prioritize the league. Cannavaro insists that despite a great start to their European campaign, Champions League
will be difficult for the Partenopei side and the league remains a realistic option given their squad strength.
Cannavaro said, “I think this season the Serie A title is more within their reach with the squad at their disposal. Europe is always more difficult, even if Napoli are doing very well. They got off to a strong start, playing great
games against Manchester City and Villarreal. However, I think they can win the Scudetto if they focus on that.”
Napoli played a fighting draw against Manchester City in their opening game of the Champions League this season, while defeated Villarreal 2-0 in their second group stage game recently. The Azzurri are currently placed on the second
spot in their group behind leaders, Bayern Munich.
Their league campaign got off to great start with two wins in as many matches including an emphatic 3-1 win over Champions, A.C Milan. However, Walter Mazzarri’s men have lost their focus recently and have suffered a defeat and
a draw in their last two games respectively.
On the other hand, Napoli President, Aurelio De Laurentiis, believes that his side has what it takes to win the Champions League.
Laurentiis is confident that his team can make it past the group stages of the competition and can even go all the way to win it. The Partenopei chief is also happy with Bayern Munich’s 2-0 over Manchester City as it hands his
team a big advantage.
Laurentiis said, "There are still other games to play, but we can still get through the group. I am happy Bayern Munich beat Manchester City [2-0], and now we have to beat the Germans when we play them. We are interested in winning
the Champions League."
