Cannes film festival help please?

First time in Cannes, can you please recommend a place to stay close to the cinema theaters during the festival

Unless you have already made your reservation, you will find it difficult to find a hotel room in Cannes during the film festival.

And, if you have to ask how much it will cost, you can't afford it!  :)

I'll be a first-timer this year as well!  I have been told that 450 Euros is a bare minimum budget for the festival (NOT including accommodation).  600 was a comforatble amount.

I have a place to stay and don't really have advice other than be prepared to shell out some serious bucks.  It's expensive regularly, but gets cranked up during the festival.  AND its now only a month away so prices are even higher.  I found a range of 96USD/night - $500+.  Those $500+ are the ones on the Croisette.
