Canning pears with the peels on?

Question

I want to can pears again this year, but I am wondering if it is possible to can them without peeling them first. It takes so much time, plus I think the peel is a very healthy part of the pear. Anyone have any experiences/thoughts?

if you are going to leave the peels on that's find, they just won't be as attractive because after the cooking and canning process the skin will begin to peel on it's own
